Get the kids for Homemade Lemonade, Pizza and More
I am sharing this recipe for Homemade Lemonade courtesy of Annabel Karmel and DK Publishing. Annabel is the author of The Toddler Cookbook, available now. Summer’s almost here, so grab your kids and spend some quality time together while having some fun.
Homemade Lemonade is refreshing on a hot day and packed with vitamin C!
You will need:
1 cup (200 g) sugar
½ cup (150 ml) hot water
6 large lemons
1 ½ pints (850 ml) chilled still or sparkling water
Makes 2 pints (1.25 liters)
How to make it…
1) Make the syrup
Put the sugar in a heatproof bowl and add the hot water. Stir to dissolve the sugar, then set aside to cool.
2) Roll the lemons
This helps release the juice.
3) Squeeze the lemons.
You need 8 fl oz (250 ml) of juice.
4) Add sugar syrup and chilled water.
Pour the juice into a pitcher and stir in the sugary syrup.
Try fruity ice cubes
Put blueberries and tiny sprigs of mint in the ice cube trays. Fill with water and freeze.
Try pink lemonade
Just add a few drops of grenadine.
Annabel and her publisher have given me permission to share this video, which will show you how to make individual kids pizzas and much more, all from her new book The Toddler Cookbook. Check it out!

The video is really good - makes me want to buy the book for our daughter for when her baby is older.
When our daughter was little, I let the kids make little pizzas at her birthday party. I let them mash out canned biscuit dough for the crust and then put on the toppings. They had so much fun!
