Frito-Lay Tailgating Giveaway
valmg | Oct 06, 2009 | Comments 98

We love to snack in our house. My favorite snack of all time is Fritos. TJ’s favorite chip of all time is classic Lays. We always have these snacks in the house and I buy at least one bag every week. If we’re having company or watching any sporting events I stock up. We actually love many Frito-Lay products, which is why it was so cool that I was offered the opportunity to work with them to put together this fun giveaway celebrating the kick off of the football season.
For many people tailgating brings to mind foods such as hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and saucy wings. We tailgated at the Nascar race in Dover last week and that was pretty standard fare throughout the lots. Not the healthiest foods in the world. Frito-Lay wants to remind us that fun foods can be healthier than we think and still be tasty. All you need to do is incorporate some “better for you” ingredients like tomatoes, avocados, olives, fresh salsa, reduced fat shredded cheese, Frito-Lay Bean Dip, reduced fat sour cream and lean turkey instead of ground beef.
“We know few people go to tailgate parties for the veggie – it’s definitely a time to indulge and enjoy. But it doesn’t have to be a total eating catastrophe. At Frito-Lay, our portion control sizes make it easy to enjoy all your favorite treats – in moderation. And simple “tricks” like offering dips made with reduced-fat sour cream or that offer positive nutrition like salsa or guacamole, cooking with lean turkey meat and fat-free refried beans can cut hundreds of calories off your meals and still taste great for you and your hungry fans.”
Are you up to the challenge of creating a tasty “better for you” tailgate party recipe? If you are, stick around and enter the contest.

WIN IT!
One winner will receive a Frito-Lay Tailgating kit including better-for-you Frito-Lay products, a gift card for purchasing recipe ingredients and a stylish dish to serve your delicious recipes.
HOW TO ENTER. (MANDATORY)
Leave a comment here sharing your favorite “better for you” tailgating or party recipe. It can’t be any recipe, it has a specific requirement. The recipe MUST include one or more Frito-Lay products.

- In the recipes themselves, such as Frito-pies
- Tostitos-base in taco salads dishes/dip
- Tostitos scoops or various other Lays chips used for “dipping” the recipes
Your recipe should include what ingredients are needed and instructions on how to make it.

About the Author: Valerie is married with two boys.

My recipe is super simple. I like to keep these ingredients on hand for a quick snack when we have unexpected guests and/or for regular planned parties.
Taco Dippers
Frito Lay Tostitos (regular or scoops, whatever your preference)
2 cans Frito Lay Bean Dip
2 jars of Fresh Salsa (we can our own, but you can substitute your favorite brand)
1 8 oz bag Shredded Mexican Cheese
Optional: Shredded Lettuce and Diced Tomatoes
Use a 9 x 13 serving dish (use glass dish if you have one, it looks neat as it shows all the layers.)
Spread bean dip in an even layer across the bottom of dish. Top with a layer of salsa. Then top with a layer of cheese. (Optional: Follow layer of cheese with a layer of shredded lettuce sprinkled with diced tomatoes.)
Serve with Frito Lay Tostitos and enjoy!
Older recipes I had for similiar dips called for sour cream and guacamole (?sp) layers along with a cheese spread and sometimes meat- I just eliminated those and left all the healthier layers. Everyone loves the dip and no one misses the fat or calories.
THANK YOU for the chance to win this awesome prize. My crew would love to have it for the football season.
Hugs,
Jamie
