Pirate’s Booty Snacks Review And Giveaway
valmg | Sep 23, 2009 | Comments 110

We love to snack in our house. Since CJ requires gluten-free foods snack shopping is even more challenging since he can’t eat many of the things out there that the rest of us can. It’s easy to spot gluten in some products but for others you have to know the super secret code word before you can find out if there’s gluten in it. It’s not a super secret code word but it might as well be because gluten hides in all sorts of things, most of them not natural. That’s why foods with all natural ingredients are less confusing – either it’s in there or it’s not.
From the Pirate’s Booty website – “An isle of healthy snacking, abundant with delectably crunchy treasures that are good for you. We’ve combined the best, real, and all natural ingredients to bring you scrumptious snacks you have long hunted for. So stock your hatches with Pirate’s Booty, live a little healthier, and Get Hooked. Your little anklebiters will thank you with a hearty “Yo-ho-ho”.”
Pirate’s Booty all natural snacks are available in a variety of flavors including Aged White Cheddar, Barbeque, Veggie, Bermuda Onion, Sea Salt & Vinegar and Caramel. They also offer a crunchy corn snack called Original Tings, and real Wisconsin cheese Smart Puffs. The Pirate’s Booty Veggie is made with real vegetables. This flavor and the Original Tings are vegan.

We recently received a treasure chest of Pirate’s Booty to try. It contained a snack sized bag of each of the following flavors of Pirate’s Booty – Aged White Cheddar, Barbeque, Veggie, Bermuda Onion and Sea Salt & Vinegar. There was also a snack sized bag of Original Tings.
The Original Tings are a little hard to explain. They are crunchy but not like a corn chip. They’re more like a harder, crunchier puff. They were good on their own and I think they might go well with dip.
I’d much rather talk about the Pirate’s Booty puffed snacks. Now I’m a fan of cheese puffs from way back. I didn’t expect to like these as much as I did. With each bag I opened I had a harder time deciding which was my favorite. I expected the Cheddar to be my favorite but in a surprising twist my favorite ended up being a tie between the Barbeque and the Bermuda Onion. Each variety had a subtle flavor distinguishable from the rest. My theory is that the flavor is baked in because my fingers didn’t all covered with stuff like they do when I eat other cheese puffs.

Here’s some other facts about the Pirate’s Booty snacks that make them great.
- They are gluten-free and wheat-free, as they are made of rice and corn meal.
- They are trans fat free.
- They are all natural, containing nothing artificial or synthetic including color additives.
- They are peanut and tree nut free.
- They are kosher.
- They are low in fat (130 calories per serving).
Pirate’s Booty snacks are available for purchase nationwide at most major supermarkets, as well as by the case in the online Pirate’s Booty store.
