Rubbermaid Take Along A Fun Lunch Review And Giveaway
valmg | Sep 20, 2009 | Comments 97

I often pack my son’s food when we’re going somewhere as well as to bring to school. I do it for two big reasons – it’s more economical and I know he isn’t eating foods with gluten. CJ loves cheese, meats and veggies. These foods don’t usually keep well if they aren’t cold. We’ve tried those inexpensive ice packs and had them break. Plain ice melts. The ice in the big blue plastic container gets heavy for his little hands. Putting the food in really cold always seems to create moisture that gets everywhere. It leaves us with a problem.
Rubbermaid sent me two items from their Take Along A Fun Lunch campaign for this review – a four pack pf sandwich size square TakeAlongs and a Blue Ice Fun Shape.

The TakeAlongs are a lot sturdier than plastic containers of old. I like that the seal clicks into place so you know it’s actually sealed. If you have a lot of leftovers you’ll appreciate the ridged lids that allow you to stack to your heart’s content without the bottom one collapsing causing them all to fall over. For convenience you can’t beat them – they can be frozen, reheated in the microwave and washed on the top rack of a dishwasher. TakeAlongs are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
That bring me to the Blue Ice Fun Shape. These are so new that they aren’t even on the Rubbermaid website yet!

The Blue Ice Fun Shape we received was a baseball. Like many ice products, it freezes overnight. What I like the most about it is that it’s super sturdy. I feel very comfortable placing this in a lunch bag for my son because I know it won’t break like the thin bags we’ve tried in the past. Plus they’re just really cute.
